Grandma

by Maple Tree   Dec 3, 2016

Her eyes are my memory,
sparkling, emerald gems-

Adorning a meadow morning
with crystalline water, pure emotion.

She was the painting that I gazed upon
through my life, the finest pencil upon canvas.

I have yet and may never in my life know
another piece of art; as her.

Laughter became a rainbow within my veins-

Coloring tears upon a sidewalk
with chalky sorrow, as we sang
together in silence-

Oh the emptiness could always be satisfied,
for hunger was replaced with knowledge.
I knew to paint my thoughts, her aura
cast knew light that only I could see.

She brought me to a place where wildflowers
danced within my anxiety and scented fear
with the strength in knowing who I was born to be.

I am her classical legacy,
I will honor her in colorful words
the only way I know how.

Such a tribute must be appreciated where she has gone. Andrea, if you are her legacy, she has had a most fruitful existence.

    Hello Andrea,

'Singing in silence' really hit home. There are few people in life that we can feel blissfully happy sharing silence. These times just languishing in their presence.

Your tribute allows this reader a glimpse of your shared relationship. It was a special one that will endure despite you both occupying different worlds. Your special silence will traverse this gap, keeping you two always together.

    Hugs xx
