Where have all the Flowers Gone

by Maple Tree   Dec 5, 2016

Within a brisk moment
her eyes fluttered
like an orchid during
a dawn, awakening.

One flower in the midst of
a society born only to be
roses; pruned with elegance.

Her petals were torn by harsh winds,
periods of drought filled her veins and
there were times when the sun played
peek a boo with her anxiety.

A thistle may have spiny edges
but she and the moon played darkness
like a grand symphony of emotions.

The flowers have since passed on-

but the weed survived within a barren
field of memories, her sorrow
feeds the untouchables, forget me knots
and the dandelion dusting upon
a smiling chin.

Andrea, this is just lovely! There's a lot of "weeds" that truly are beautiful and far more resilient than those hot house beauties. Loved this!

Freakin hell syrup!! I love you nature pieces so much, and i always love your metaphors, in this piece you have used them to maximum effect and effortlessly your writing never seems forced or rushed and almost always is relatable as s**t! Awesome write!!!
