In Other Worlds

by William Mae   Dec 5, 2016

A Different World

In other realms to most unknown,
In dimensions' one must ponder,
My mind traveled there in dreams,
Then settled in to wonder.

Sailing cross a nameless sea,
Above the waves of memories,
A breeze of yesterday blew in,
Painted me this scenery,

I viewed a life unparalleled,
On higher plains it measured,
Values beating heart came not,
By monetary treasures.

Here the greatest peace had rose,
Through merely gifts of giving,
With self a far off distant thought,
Unlike where we are living.

Life is upside down on earth,
We seek for things that's passing,
Ignore eternal gifts we have,
Although we know those lasting.

The materialists hand holds to lies,
It values only treasure,
Its fleeting pomp deludes the truth,
Of promised days of pleasure.

Wow William, Another beautiful write. I love this. I want to live in this place! LOL. Right about now especially. It would be nice to escape the world of materialistic things and people and just...be. I especially like---Life is upside on earth, we seek, for things that's passing,
Isn't that the truth? This is wonderful William

Thank you Mary, it's easy to forget what's important in life and get caught up in the eye candy of life.

This other world always seem to be better then the one we live in and its also an escape from reality. When we read, hear and see what is happening around the world there is an inner want, a wish for this world to be better.

I like the way you have weaved this story where material things are not what blinds us but the blessings that have been bestowed upon us...nicely penned and as always happy to read :)

A nicely told story with good use of rhyme.
The alternate universe you describe sounds like a place I'd like to live. A life where we give and need no monet for rewards, because giving is reward enough.

    Well done,
