What is Poetry?

Poetry is like love and life, and time, and death
and what not

Everyone has different opinions about it.

Yet for me, poetry is everything!

it has no particular meaning or boundaries
that restricts the poet from venting away
what one feels and has clogged within his being.

it's all compacted in our entrails to later
be given away because that's what poetry is all about
it's about giving and receiving just as love and time and life.

We as writers or poets give our time to write words for the reader
and the reader gives his time to read our words; everything is reciprocated.
but it doesn't matter if the reader can understand the written words
so long as the emotion within the words come afloat.

You see, poetry is poetry in the way that it doesn't necessarily needs to be understood,
just as life, and love, and time and death, we go on without understanding what they are all about
yet we go on because we know we are feeling them and that's enough for us to realize
what they are all about.

but if you stumble upon a poem that you do not understand nor feel
that doesn't mean is not poetry, that only shows the beauty of being different.
We as humans express our feelings, our emotions in different ways.
While some would cry their hearts out, others prefer to do so in reserve way.
some others may want to show instead of tell, but it doesn't matter how it's done
so long as the poet keeps in mind their purpose.

What is it that he/she wants to portray? does he want to be understood? does he want to show the world an image with his words? Does he wants to simply make the reader feel the tone of his words without being understood? Does he want to vent away, to get rid of his pain or joy and to just hope for one single soul to be able to connect with his written words?
Or does he want the whole world to understand him, to feel his pain and joy, does he want the whole world to feel and hear what he has written with his pencil?

You see, poetry is poetry in the way that we can breathe life and love, and time, and even death, all with words, but is enough to make us feel something.

Poetry is written however the poet feels like writing it. However, what type of poetry to read, now that's the readers preference.
