Trying to work out why some people use others is simple. They are selfish and once you come across people like this, leave them alone. Anyone who makes you feel worthless / inadequate - are not worth your time.
Use your effort to bolster your own self-confidence. Now, that's worthwhile and time worth spending. Time for you!
