Happy New Year 2017 (English Sonnet)

Happy New year 2017
~ English Sonnet ~

: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :

A year doth breathe a breath towards the next,

Reflecting too on gathered memories.

A few or more induced a cold hard sweat,

Others, they still play songs quite happily.

As throngs of crowds embrace the river Thames,

Eager to share the celebrated year;

At home I text a multitude of friends,

It's here I 'fess where my fine party rears.

I melt into the pools of my sweet love,

And know my blissful tears lay in those eyes.

The countdown chants and stars shine down on us,

As our lips meet a rainbow lights the sky.

: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :

A year is filled with frames of smiles and frowns,

I know with you dark frames can never drown.

    Michael,

You're in a rich vein of English sonnets at the moment, seemingly inspired by the time of year. This is another really good one and receives my nomination!

    All the very best,

    Ben

Michael, I believe that you are becoming good at these those I'm still unsure about them and what they entail but (to me) even if the meter is 'off' it's still excellent.

1/ I love this part as memories are made year in year out and sometimes they can be terrible others most memorable but I believe that life is what you make it.

2/ lol this reminded me off my new years eve thigh I watched 'Robbie rocks Big Ben' so I was kind of there in London haha but I texted friends and family way before midnight as it's usually all networks freeze time.

3/ Love this part as I imagine you being in the arms of the lady you love, looking into her eyes and seeing in the new year with your arms wrapped around each other as the new year comes in and the stars or the people who have sadly lost theirs lives that year (thats what I believe stars to be) looking down on us and as your lips lock when the midnight bells chime the skies become rainbow coloured or is that just the fireworks lol :)

Couplet/ What an absolutely stunning ending and one which I think we can all relate too. I wrote something then when copying it, I deleted it by accident so forgot what I had said but it's a new year, new start and if only we could leave those dark times in the past year, wouldn't it be grand?

All the best and happy new year.

Thank you, Em. I am surprised to receive a comment. Often Sonnets are side stepped, maybe because they are not quite as accessible as other forms, but you dear, Em, I salute you for your comment. Thank you, dear.
