Arranged

by Kasie   Jan 5, 2017

Lilly was just a young woman of nineteen,
Forced to marry a man for reasons unforeseen.

She despised this man for everything he's done,
He was a murderous mafia prince, notorious with a gun.

Twas her duty to become this man's wife,
Peace would come from this unity for life.

She had to do this, even though she was scared,
She could try to run, if she dared.

But if they found her,
She would surely die.
There was no escaping,
She had to hold her head high.

Finally, the day came to wed "Prince Charming",
He was roughly handsome and quite alarming.

Standing beside him, the mood, unkind,
Fathoming the thought of the mission assigned.

Speaking the vows with no meaning at all,
She stands strong, brave, and honorably tall.

Now husband and wife, he takes her unwilling hand,
As she glares upon her newly placed wedding band.

Thank you, this was actually a short story I was working on but I decided to turn it into a poem instead.
