Beneath the surface

by Juliette   Jan 13, 2017

Love is like the sea
it seems endless, and mysterious.
the rough water hurts us,
the deep water scares us,
and the shallow love is hardly anything at all.

we are scared of love,
just how we are scared of the oceans,
the vast, perpetual feeling of fullness;
but in a moment emptiness.
out at sea, discombobulated,
unaware of what is north, and what is south.
not quite knowing where you are going or what you're doing.

looking at the horizon, believing the sea never ends
but all things must end.
however, love: real, pure, true love never ends.
it is the one thing that never leaves.

Juliette - a warm welcome to the site.

This is an excellent early post from you and certainly got me thinking.
I agree entirely with the closing sentiment: all things - like the ocean - must and do come to an end, but love never does. How can a feeling that is nothing you can physically touch be as evanescent as something 'real'? Those things all die/come to an end but emotions that powerful cannot be extinguished so easily.

Well done on this and keep writing,

    Ben
