Beauty

by Brenda   Jan 17, 2017

I see beauty,
in this land,
as it streams past my window,
on my way north.
To the people
I come from.
The farms give way to woods
that give way
to majestic lakes
that still take my breath away
even after all these years...
-
I see beauty,
in my mothers face,
lined with all the happiness
and sorrow
she's endured in her life.
Though frail in body,
her eyes still hold fire and spark.
Her grace and beauty
reminds me of all
the loveliness she has given
my life...
-
I see beauty,
in my children.
Now adults themselves,
with families of their own.
I watch in awe
as they navigate this tricky
thing called life.
I swell with pride,
my greatest accomplishment ever...
-
I see beauty,
in the faces of my grandbabies.
So much pure sweetness,
their very presence
is like being kissed
by a ray of sunshine.
Hearing their voices
soothes my heart
and gives my soul rest.
I have been truly blessed with their love...
-
I see beauty,
in my husbands' love for me
I see it in his face,
I see it in his actions.
As we go through this
life together
I am reminded each day
how beautiful
my life is...
-
With all the harshness
out there,
in this world,
it's easy to lose sight
of all the beauty
that surrounds you.
It's there in the small things,
the everyday things,
the things
we take for granted.
The people
we take for granted.
Take time to really see
all the beauty
we've been given...

I wanted to leave my comment on this poem for such a long time but never got time to do so. This poem is all about admiring life for what it has given us this far. Most of us spend all our lives looking for the big things and forget to live in the beauty of those little things happening around us all the time, even now while I am writing this comment.

There are six stanzas in this poem and each one says beauty, a perfect life or happiness, is always around us, we just have to embrace it.
Theme of the poem is obvious, beauty. Beauty in the mother's eyes for their children, in our childhood memories, in the naughtiness of our grandchildrens, in the achievements of our childrens, in becoming strength of each other during the good or bad, and at last in admiring the life.

Like first stanza reminds you of the land where you grew up. A land covered up with majestic lakes, woods, farms, friendly people around you. A place which you have not forgot or would never. The wind of your childhood still takes you there. Imaginary is visual and language nostalgic.

Second stanza you dedicated to your mother. The hardships she been through showed on her face, in those lines on her forehead or in her wrinkles but she still holds that grace to spark love in anyone's life, just like she has been keep on giving you love for so long. Those lines are the proof that she endured everything, just to keep her family safe. Imaginary?
Well how could one define a mother's love for her children in language, so no words.

Again, the love of a mother for her children continues in the third stanza as well. Now you have your own children and you feel satisfied that they are giving tough fight to life. You are happy because they are happy, they have a good life and beautiful families. Through this stanza you have tried to give us all a message that for parents the biggest accomplishment is that when their childrens do good in their lives.
Beauty of this poem continues in this stanza too.

Fourth stanza and second stanza where you mentioned the beauty you saw in your mother's eyes and your grand babies faces. In their sunshine presence, hearing their sweet voices, you forget your worries for a while. You feel blessed.

Fifth stanza you wrote for that one true love of your life. You have shared that both of you were lucky to find each other at the right moment in your life and how the two of you always stand for each other and support each other in daily life activities. So that the two of you will be able always with each other. It's him who finally showed you that life could be beautiful.

Last stanza is all about spreading the beautiful message that with a little taste of bitterness in our life how easily we forget the beauty of happiness around us. If we want to see then we are always surrounded by beauty. In little things, happening around us with beautiful people around making it happen for us.

    Loved it!

    Keep on penning!

This is such an inspirational write. I liked the journey through a country preceding a journey made up of facial lines. We are more than our journeys, we often gift journeys in others. Life is a gift and it's beautiful, when we struggle to find the happiness, we should read poems like this and know that beauty is equal and available for all.
