The Catwalk

by Maple Tree   Feb 8, 2017

I smile gracefully, through this life,
within twists and turns
I stand;

motionless.

Forgive me -
My face reads
one thousand messages of sorrow,
I beg forgiveness
for the words
I didn't say...

You judge every curve
of my life
as if it was your very own,
personal journey.

As I walk to exit
out of your gaze
read the note upon
my back;

"You've hurt me
for the very last time".

    A stunning piece Maple Tree, with a killer punchline at the end. Just wasn't expecting that!!
    Superb writing yet again.

    Judged, always on trial, never able to "let your guard down," living in an armed camp. Though you pose the poem in the trappings of a model, this guise is irony itself, for instead of admiration, your protagonist must endure scathing disregard for her own humanity.
    Excellent ending.
