Poet Overboard

by Maple Tree   Feb 14, 2017

My eyes blacken within
A cave of twisted seas and turns.

The bow breaks and my stomach
Spews sonnets during a sultry storm.

I taste the ocean,
It's flavored with your
Fiery opinions and what nots;

But you failed to realize
That I fell overboard years ago,
Drowning in pages of ink,
Poems written for you...

Stuffed in bottles you will never read-

A stranger will find them upon an early dawn,
Whisper, sigh and say

"Another poet with a broken heart
A salty sea of silence, soothes
A lover of the broken depart
Abord a ship they call the blues...."

Great imagery here Maple Tree. I loved the way you mixed in your poetry of a broken love affair and a ship sailing the high seas. Very original mix which I liked a lot! A very creative write!
