Solitude

by shadow   Mar 4, 2017

It used to be simple
Black and white
Sun rise and sunset
Day and night

All of the small moments
I would try to make last
Like when the moonlight made your eyes
shine so endless and vast

The way the wind would caress
softly against my skin
Your lips parting ever so slightly
In that cute sheepish grin

I savor these memories
Like a sip of expensive wine
It rolls across my tongue
Sending lovely chills down my spine

It used to be so simple
To imagine such scenes
Even if they were
nothing more than daydreams

This is a very interesting poem. At the beginning the reader is made to believe that all these scenes really happened. Then at the end, you surprise them by saying:
it used to be so simple
    To imagine such scenes
    Even if they were
    Nothing more than daydreams

This last verse makes the reader believe that these scenes are simply things that you wish would've happened.

Great job. This is an amazing poem.
