Hound

by CJ Maleney   Mar 18, 2017

Born in the day and bathed in the light.
Eyes open so I'm told, no hint of a fight.
Not a cry nor a scream,
Held in worlds awe.
I desired to know, life held so much more.

A dot of a child,
Insignificant at first,
But with passing of time
The cocoon finally bust.

In my time and my way,
I grew and I ran,
Getting stronger and faster
The passion began.

I would swim in the rivers
I would climb up the trees
I would sit by the ocean
Feel the spray in the breeze.

For miles I would walk
No companion to talk.
My hound at my heels
Destination not sought.

So we traveled together
Growing lean as we did,
No end point in mind
The end point was hid.

Often so lost,
But home always found
We traveled together
Just me and my hound.

I was never one for people
They murder and steal,
But between boy and dog
The bond is so real.

When the brute passed away
I Iwas lost and soul bound
Till it finally hit me he was dog
And I hound.

I think a lot of people identify with some sort of animal,

Some are deffo monkeys, others certainly feline. Some more like mere cats.

I've always found it odd that even the biggest brute of a dog and not even my own will sit at my feet and be compliant.

Odd when you think I'm only 5'8" tall and not of an imposing stature.

    Yet still a hound
