The Sum Of All My Fears

by CJ Maleney   Mar 22, 2017

You could take all my fears,
You could add them together,
But you could not calculate them.

You could take all my desires and place them side by side.
Using all your fingers and all your toes,
You would not find a numerical answer.

You could take all my needs, take all I want.
Sit in front of an abacus and slide your beads back and fourth.
You brow will furrow in confusion.

You could take all my fears, all my desires, all my wants and all my needs.

You could apply any formulae or equation that exists or ever existed.
You could place them in front of any and every boffin that ever breathed.

They would tear their hair out in frustration.

The sum of all my fears, my hopes, my dreams and my desires cannot be measured in numbers.

They are measured in 3 letters of one word.

! YOU !

    Ooh now I'm intrigued.

The problem with poets is they can say everything and reveal nothing.

Or say very little and reveal everything.

    Words dance

You have a great understanding of opposite in your poetry and that would come very handy in your writes.

It is so interesting to deny numbers while embracing them. A good poet always make use of opposite, like this.
