There was a story you once started writing,
And you asked me to write an ending to it.
Of course;
Our endings differed but for some reason it is now just coming to mind.
The story was about two people,
Meeting coincidentally on a bridge to create the same dark act.
It turned out their reasons were connected;
And each of them tried to talk the other out of their dark desire.
However,
If I remember correctly I liked your ending more.
It was frustrating,
But it reminded me of how when we were kids
we would promise to jump together into the pool only one of us
Secretly planning to make the other jump first.
Despite the differences in the situations,
Your ending of the story
still frustrates me in a way that the kid who jumped into the pool
Alone got frustrated with their friend.
I'm not sure if it was that the man who jumped deceived the girl
Into thinking he was going to be ok,
Or if the selfish part of me knew how the girl felt and was angry that
He got to take away his pain.
That story still sticks in the back of my mind,
still bothers me but I'm not sure why.
Whatever it was,
I can't quite put my finger on it.
