EQUALITY

by Tasha   Apr 8, 2017

I sob for the tomorrow never seen,
For the future never reached,
Never knowing what LIFE could mean.
I cry from the violence of the past:
the beatings of the innocent
A tear for every gunshot blast.
I weep for the hate in people's eyes,
The evil names and judging looks,
The sounds of the murdered PAINFUL cries.
I SCREAM for the JUSTICE of us ALL
The young, the old, the black, the white.
Without which we all shall fall.

I must admit that I found the structure of the rhymes a tad difficult at first, but once I read it a few times, I understood it's frame.

This piece is full of painful truths, but there was, I think - understandably - a layer of anger hidden beneath the sorrow, and it was this anger that intrigued me the most. Reading it again, it is the anger that gives this piece life, heart and drive.

I also enjoyed some of the wording chosen that really seemed to act as the pulse of the piece. Words like 'violence', 'beatings', 'gunshot', 'blast'.

    Another strong piece

    Tasha,

This really is a very powerful and damning piece as far as humanity is concerned. We're a troublesome lot, aren't we?

    All the very best,

    Ben
