Different

There's something about you;
Something I can't quite put my finger on
and whenever you're around
It feels natural.
Bright lights shine from afar over the dark water
And the sky has long since
Turned from a beautiful hue of blue to a grey tinted black.
The air that flows around us is cold;
And it's icy fingers run across my legs but I pay no attention,
The heat between us pours off of you and onto me like liquid
being poured from one glass to the next
And then again back to the other.
With light conversation and the occasional scare from something jumping
In the water and a leaf blowing by;
This moment is perfect.
Friends, acquaintances or even lovers;
I don't care what we are as
Long as I have you by my side,
As long as you are here
Alive and breathing then I am perfectly happy.
I've never met someone who has genuinely cared about me,
Not in the way you do.
You aren't perfect,
Yet you are everything beyond it at the same time.
I don't know what brought you into my
life;
And I'm in no position to question it,
Especially because I have no objections.
I'm beyond happy
that I made the choice to say a simple
Hello to you that night,
Because darling you are different.
