Killing of Trees

by Maple Tree   Apr 17, 2017

To enjoy it's shade,
feel it's leafy breezes upon your face
Is a pure love for humanity.

Stripping away bark,
axing circles of life; age by age
Is a darkened soul who holds the axe.

Shall we flourish within the wilderness?
Or wither away within a pile of decayed leaves?

If you bury a tree six feet under,
be sure to make room for yourself....

An eloquent depiction of how the poet bonds with trees, feels pain when the ax caving into the layers that trees in age grow up through them, with a great sense of sorrow:

The truth well spoken. We need trees and sadly more and more are being destroyed for what. Not to mention all the animals who depend on them. To me there is nothing greater then taking a walk through the forest and enjoying the breeze. There is not many left. You did a wonderful job with this write and yes indeed it deserves to win. All the very best
