fade in, fade out

by ether   Apr 26, 2017

branching veins,
black pupils,
we are the same construct;
our flaws create diversity.
worshiping the celebrity,
the stock exchange,
and eyebrow curves;
limiting our spectrum.

we have become the epicentre of causation,
the next mass extinction,
the blood on our hands,
an evolutionary dead end.

and with this knowledge
i watched you retreat;
riding waves in the stratosphere,
until the tsunami carries you ashore
to fix everything you left behind.

    A powerful poem of two parts. The first two stanza’s are quite bare and gritty and in your face, whereas the last softer and more personal, this adds immensely to the flavour of the piece. We have certainly transformed this planet to one of chaos, is there a glimmer of hope within your last stanza? I would like to think so… maybe not /…Great title, a really thought provoking read.
