Little White Lies:

by Scott Cole   Apr 28, 2017

It rolls off your tongue
Like anything else,
A little white lie
You could've kept to yourself.

You spun me a web
And sugarcoated it all,
Had my big head spinning
My back to the wall.

I was one step behind you
Made me look like a fool,
But during that process
You broke the golden rule.

I never would've guessed it
Your words were disguised,
As honest filled emotions
That I thought I recognized.

So I did take the bait
The whole hook line and sinker,
For a big ole fat lie
Don't come with a blinker.

They have a ring of truth
Came from those same lips,
Which gave me your word
And then gave me the slip.

But you finally tripped up
Couldn't remember your lies,
So there goes the real truth
And your made-up alibi.
