Over Mirror Lake

by 2luv   Apr 30, 2017

Over Mirror Lake

morning sun rose
over mirror lake
reflecting me holding
the coffee I take

even at dawn
the silence
allures
cures
with tender care
save the songbirds trying
with despair
to awaken the morning
wild flowers in the meadow
over there

rising to my feet
and I am on my way
to the other side of the
lake
I take
my time
taking it all in
I can't remember when
I felt so right,
fish starting to stir
with the light

I start back to camp
but take a break
to see the meadow
flowers finally
start to awake
to the joy of the song
of a bird,
I just heard
I won't worry
its almost done
tonight's show
too is promised
to stun
Except then
when
I return its with
wine in a glass
and sitting
on the grass
watch it all fall back
asleep

Some clever rhyming and some skilful construction make this a joy to read.

    All the best,

    Ben
