Sodapop Veins

by Randall   May 2, 2017

Looking in your eyes feels like staring down the barrel
Of a sawed-off shotgun
Everyone knows how you love to pull the trigger.

Dancing together in withered fields we hummed the tune of sirens
As you slowly locked and loaded
We only loved when we were forced to dodge bullets.

Such delight in watching fires against the night-sky
Burning bridges for sport
We were so sweet we might as well have sodapop in our veins.

After the sugar rush, comes the crash
I only wish I´d worn my seatbelt.
