Fond Aspirations:

by Scott Cole   May 3, 2017

I came to you one rainy day morning
With intentions on cheering you up,
I was dressed in my finest attire
All groomed with a new hair cut.

With my nerves and stomach extra tense
And myself on pins and needles,
I walked straight up to your doorbell
To relieve your heart of all its evils.

I starred at you through the pane
That tiny window outside your door,
And when you crossed the threshold
Your lower jaw fell towards the floor.

With a big ole smile on your plain face
You reached to touch my sweaty hand,
And as you begin walking me inside
I was so shaken that I couldn't stand.

So you invited me into your kitchen
Told me to make myself at home,
So I took me a seat by your skylight
At your coffee table next to the phone.

You glared into my calm prized eyes
And of course I peered back at you,
And we danced around your hallways
I did whatever you wanted me to do.

But things finally hit a sour note
And after an hour you finally let me go,
So you kicked me to your rainy curb
Said our relationship was all a show.

Now I'm just sitting here in the street
With my broken heart in my throat,
For you threw away such a precious love
And me those Red Roses with a love note.

Wow!!! I didn't catch that it was told from the roses point of view at first, but when I read your comment and read it again I was completely amazed! How creative! And such a beautiful write, as well. You capture those emotions perfectly! Well done!!

Oh my...this started out so beautifully like watching a movie
everything going smoothly and fine then...what happened..? Heart
got crushed. You are a good story teller and that too in a poetry so very
well penned. It flowed smoothly and the rhymes and rhythm was perfect!
