Good Gifts:

by Scott Cole   May 5, 2017

Today I almost did something
That I never should've did,
I nearly gave away a good gift
Something I should've hid.

But when I first got it
I mean it was so amazing,
But instead of tending the fields
I put it out to grazing.

My new gift gave me freedom
The chance to learn and grow,
And do anything I wanted
I'm the star of the show.

It took me to great lengths
Taught me right from wrong,
Gave me all the answers
When I couldn't go on.

It helped me find my wife
And helped me raise my kids,
Always did what I asked
And exactly what I did.

It helped me to understand
Of the troubles of this land,
Showed me that a clear mind
Always has the upper hand.

That this life is temporary
Things will come and go,
But during all the misery
Don't let things explode.

What I'm trying to tell you
Is that good gifts are good,
Even if their not appreciated
Or occasionly mis-understood.

That good gift from the Lord
Our beautiful Mind,
So always use it wisely
Before it does unwind.
