Broken Pieces

by Fredy RoMa0u Sanchez   May 7, 2017

She wakes up with tears on her face...
Noticing, next to her, his empty space...
Forgetting for a second he's at work...
Allowing jealousy to go berserk...
She's quick to point out how miserable she is with him...
An attack, with malice, to his self-esteem...
A string of texts blow up his phone...
He asked: where's all this coming from?

"Why can't you see?
This is all coming from broken me.
The broken me who's loved you since we met.
The broken me, whom you've lied to with no regret.
The broken me who thought she found the one among the mist
Unaware, I was just another name on a list.
The broken me who defended your character against all...
The broken me who thought you would never let me fall....
The broken me who believed your lie...
The broken me who's scared to even try....
The broken me who doesn't look for happiness anymore.
The broken me whom yo shook to the core..."

Her words hung in the air, as if from a noose...
I shook my head as I had no excuse...
Nothing left to do but offer a weak truce
So I said:

To the broken you:
Your love has always wrapped itself around me like a warm blanket in the winter.
And i tossed it aside like an annoying splinter...
To the broken you: who's been lied to several times...
The broken you who's forgiven all my crimes...
The broken you whose happiness I stole
When  instead of saving you, i dug a hole....
The broken you who is still trying to write our story
I truly am sorry...
Words the broken you has heard before...
However, they're not just words anymore...
Know that all i will ever do...
Is have my actions be like glue...
With truth I will make sure your love increases
And I will put back all the little broken pieces....
