Rainbow baby

by Hope2932   May 12, 2017

What came before you was sadness and loss
Thought you wouldn't be
Lost two before you
Couldn't bear the pain
Oh no could it be
Not again

Heartbeat correct place
Eyes developing nose and lungs
Felt you move cried
Terrified what if something went wrong
Couldn't bear the pain
First hiccup inside me
Foot beneath my rib

Oh my gosh you are going to be here soon
Terrified
You are here
Oh my gosh you are here

I wasn't able to have children so whilst my pain was great I was spared at least the pain of losing a child. For me 'first hiccup inside me, foot beneath my rib' helped me feel something of what carrying a child must feel like. People always moan about morning sickness and backpain but its the first time ive ever heard anything so endearing. A wonderful piece. Milly x

I cannot imagine the pain of losing babies, obviously, but I do know the joy and healing powers they can bring.

    A raw and powerful piece,

This is sad, but I can feel the relief and happiness in the end.
