The Plight of the Fish

by mossgirl19   May 26, 2017

Pardon, for the loss of freedom
For the loss of the smell of the ocean
And ultimately, for the loss of life.
Pardon, for the kids are waiting
For the gain of their stomachs
And ultimately, that they may live.
Do you ask why you live?
Only to be consumed by those that is bigger
Much better creature than you are.
You live to feed, and them to feed on you.
Pardon, for the loss of the will to live
For the loss of the smell of hope
And ultimately, for the loss of life.
Pardon, for they are waiting
For the gain of their own selfish bodies
And ultimately, that they may survive.
Pardon, for life is survival of the fittest
And those who cannot feed on others
Ultimately, dies.

I really liked this a lot. A lot of (pardon the pun) food for thought. We as a whole overconsume, waste and wantonly abuse this beautiful world we've been given. Your write hit home, well done-

I like this piece, it brings up a lot of truth about the selfish hedonistic society we live in. The ending was really powerful. Well done!
