Who am I to talk?

by Wayne Gates   May 26, 2017

I am so at ease telling you what you should do
When it comes to myself I haven't a clue
Telling you sugar is bad while drinking a Coke
Saying get off of drugs while taking a toke
Praising all the values of staying in school
Failing to mention that I dropped out like a fool
I am trying to sell snake oil and believing it works
Denying my failures while the truth always lurks
In the back of my mind where I refuse to look
Because when I face it I hate what I forsook
I always took the easy route never trying too hard
Now I only have a showdown hand without a face card

Brilliant, Wayne. An entirely honest write. 'Do as I say not as I do' - I'm well acquainted with that saying too! Really well written.
    All the very best,

This is extremely powerful and I feel it's either to your younger self or a child and there's things we regret but Ben Pickard (on here) once told me only to regret things we havent done and it's always stuck with me.. all we can do is try and be better than the person we were yesterday and hope our children grow up without any of our bad habits so to speak.

      Thank You, Em.
The wisdom that Ben shared with you is something that I can use as well.
      Thanks for passing it along.
