Moonbeams in a Jar

by mossgirl19   Jun 11, 2017

He looks at her, earnestly,
Wanting to be near her, but
Hesitant, heart pounding
Deciding
To walk up to her or not.

She smiles at him, her eyes
Reflecting a beauty, to him
It resembles a form, that
Haunts him, leaving
Him wanting for more.

He made up his mind, swiftly
And asked her, quite trembling
For a picnic by the sea, where
Their eyes will delight in how
Beautifully the sun sets.

She says yes timidly
Smiling, but with head bowed a
Little, trying to hide a burn
That creeps through
Her beautiful cheeks.

That day, by the sea, they
Talked about the waters,
The moon, the stars, of all
That are in the galaxies, except
Love.

But with every word, a
Burning passion flows, no
Walls divide, but something is
Built in between chuckles, leaving
A mark somewhere.

Evening dawned, and he
Broke the silence of his
Heart, looked into her
Eyes, and promised her
One thing.

That he will
Put them moonbeams in a jar
To preserve that smile on
Her face, because the moon
Defines her joy.

And maybe, if the heavens
Found him quite worthy
He will give her the stars, to
Only, and only to tell her
She’s a goddess.

That she, in her simplicity
Deserves the awe of the world
Not because of what is
Seen, but that which is
Unseen in her heart.

That in this cosmic universe,
One heart seeks to shelter her
Own, and one breathing
Relies on the beauty of her
Very breathing.

What a wonderful scene in its simplicity and yet so profound. The ageless protestations of love are captured in a glaze of magic light, refreshed and vulnerable.
One might complain for the lack of her reply but you have assured us of her willing acceptance: "she says yes ... with head bowed ... to hide a burn that creeps through her beautiful cheeks."
Well deserving of the front page.

Miracles happen on paper. Amazing how little words charm. If I were this Prince Charming here; then, no doubts you make my 'goddess!'

Awesome blend of creativity! So sweetly worded all the way! Keep inking and don't stop thinking!
