We just disagree (acrostic)

by Brenda   Jun 12, 2017

Wars have been started over disagreements.
Eventually someone crosses over that line in the sand,
jump starting chaos around the world.
Useless actions that didn't have to be,
still we continue on,
testing the waters of dissent.
Divided we stand, continuing to fall as
individuals argue, fuss, and fight.
Sadly I see no end to this,
arguing is what we do, just being able to
get along goes against the grain of many.
Refusal to be decent to another human
eventually will destroy us all.
Even the most antagonistic individual see that...

Brenda, what's good about this poem is each line tells something, and it makes it a very strong acrostic poem- content wise.

    Theme,very obvious, war.
Mostly, war is the consequence of politics, but it can also due to other reasons like religion or anything. I have seen war for natural resources like oil too.
What you have tried to tell through this poem is that there is nothing to gain from war, just loss, and the most important one is the Loss of humanity.
Whether it's two friends, two families, two states or two countries, in good times we help each other but when disagreements take over our minds, we refuse to see decency in each other and the result is end of good things like friendship, goodwill, respect, admiration.
At the same time it's the beginning of arguments, separation, complains and fights which ultimately leads us into the zone of war.
We stop thinking as one human race, stop thinking that we all feel the same pain.
Whether it's the physical pain we are going through or the mental pain of losing our dear ones during the war.
But instead of realizing this simple thing that even the most antoganastic individual should see, we keep on repeating those useless actions that lead us to further devastation.
War takes everything, occupation of many, divides us by creating complete disorder around our hearts and we too contribute to it by expressing more disagreement.
And it's harsh to repeat but if we don't see any end to this, eventually it will destroy us all.

Brenda, Lines like testing the waters of dissent; goes against the grain of many; make this poem content wise strong in the eyes of the reader.
Tone of the poem varies from line to line, like the poem has a beginning and an end.
It starts with disagreements, it shows loss in the middle and awareness in the end that the time has come for us to think as one human race.
Don't let the devil rides our minds anymore.
I loved the message in the poem, Brenda, like all the other poems of your I read.

Naazz, thank you so much! You hit the nail.on the head on what I was trying to convey. Disagreements have a way of going sideways really fast over the stupidest of things resulting in chaos and war.

    Brenda,

I'm sorry I've been lax with my commenting recently but here I am and this is excellent.
I have always liked a good acrostic as they aren't all that easy when done well and this is so relevant (sadly) to these dreadful times that I couldn't help but be drawn to it and nod along as I read.

Well done and all the best,

    Ben
