I Missed the Signs

I found you
lying on the bathroom floor
covered in blood-
what an awful sight that was.
If only I had known
what you were feeling
before this happened,
then maybe
just maybe
I could have saved you.
You weren't meant
to end up like this.
You were supposed to
graduate high school,
college,
and live a beautiful life.
But now
you lie on porcelain
broken beyond repair
without a pulse.
Why didn't I see?
You must've given
multiple signs
as to what was going to happen,
and the world
chose to ignore them
because it's easier to pretend
like they didn't know
than to actually help you.
I fall onto my knees
and let out a scream-
you're gone.
