Onward to Catalina

by Alex Penuelas   Jun 18, 2017

I know that
You and I
Are anticipating our
Trip for tomorrow.

A little getaway pleasure cruise, if you will.

I mean,
We won't be too far from the mainland
To be concerned about everyone at home,
But we would be far enough to
Feel like we are on a
Brave new world.

I know that I haven't been
That good of a son to you
These last couple of months,
But I hope that this trip to Avalon
Will rekindle our love for one another.

If I had all the money in the world,
I wouldn't have it any other way
Than to use it to show you that
My love for you has no quantitative number,
No materialistic equivalent,
And it transcends the normal bonds I
have with most of my other relatives.

I confide my joys and my sorrows with you,
And I honestly always feel happy
When I am around you, Dad.

I know you work hard to
Maintain the house that we
Recently got,
And I know you work harder still to
Deal with my stubbornness,
But I hope that you really enjoy this Fathers Day with me,
And remember that no matter where life takes us
That I will forever be your son.

Now let's go have fun Pops!
Onward to Catalina!

As we get older the bonds we have with it parents start to waver as we begin making our own lifes, our own families etc but they know we still love them. I do think this is pretty sweet.
