Mending The Tide

by Chris   Jun 21, 2017

I once gave you the tools to shatter my own heart,
I forced your hand and made us fall apart.

Hanging by a mere thread, my heart lays shattered in your soft hands,
So many wrongs and so few rights, how do I call myself a man?

I pushed you into a raging sea of vultures with no excuse,
Content within my own mind I quickly became a recluse.

Our love is strong, time and time again, full and robust;
But there is always that one setback we call trust.

I know that in time it will pass
An only then will can we last.

It will be different this time around,
My mind and heart are finally open, loud and profound.

Now you'll finally see, there is a brighter side to me,
And in time, you will agree, that we were meant to be.

Chris, this is truly well done and raw. I feel this is happening right now and the way you wrote it, it's like I'm in the scene which makes for a fantastic piece and gripped me throughout. Fabulous rhymes too.

1/ This is a raw, honest opening and to me it's like you feel your mistakes made them hurt you which is what depression/addiction does to us.

2/ This tore at my heartstrings.

3/ The rhyming here is fantastic, that's all I have here.

4/ When trust is lacking unfortunately relationships? break up because if we can't trust the person we love then who can we trust? More great rhyming.

5/ I like this because it shows your willing to stick around to make things worse.. I must say though the last line was a little off putting and here is a suggestion: 'and only then we will last'

    6/ Very uplifting :)

7/ I truly hope it works out for you.

    Em x
