DAY BY DAY

DAY BY DAY

As I wandered on my way, approaching the old Pub down by the bay, I stop and think, what the hey. As I stroll in the door the Barkeep stares at me with a big grin, what happened to you with all those hairs on your face, you look like a disgrace! My face with a bright red did glow, to my chagrin I then sheepishly replied, I hate to shave, as I looked him in the eye and said; I’d rather die!
When I turned on my stool something caught my eye, it was Rosie the local Barfly, her cheap perfume filled the room, in a heartbeat she was at my side, she said; what do you think, want to buy me a drink? I laughed and replied; do you think I’m a fink, you would be sipping Ice Tea and making a fool of me, she left in a huff exclaiming, you stink!

I don’t think I’m living an exciting life but once I was married to a beautiful wife but we had plenty of strife, I left one night when she pulled a knife. Now I live in my lonely room, the dark shadows are my friend as I waste away drowning in my gloom.
Every day I proceed to the Inn and drown my troubles with a double Gin, then one day she came into my life, she was one of those goody goodies looking for Donations for the local Charities, she was a great looker, even better than the Hooker!

I called out to her; hey, come my way, as she slowly approached, many thoughts ran around in my mind, what would she think about my kind? I said to her; I’ll give you a hundred bucks for a few minutes of your time; she laughed and said; no, I’ll give you a hundred bucks just to see you shaved and in a Tux! We hit it off big time, I thought, funny, it seems like the ugly guy gets the great Chick while the muscle-bound Hulks have to whine.

Now we have been married for many a year, she still calls me dear and whispers in my ear, how about a beer or two and maybe we can find something interesting to do? Some of her Goody Goodie ways rubbed off on me, for in Church every Sunday me you will see for sure and now we both solicit together for the poor.

Well fella, what an intriguing love story, from whiskers to the love of your life. And the poor old hulks with all their bulks, you scored a fabulous goal.

    Lovely rhyming piece

Thank you so much Mossgirl19, as I had said previously that I try to use real life experiences even from my own life. I always like happy endings as mine has reflected. I love your comments, it obvious that you study each line.
