The title is a reference to "I Saw Daddy Today" by Yann Tiersen, isn't it?
I'm going to dissect (well more like poke with a stick) a couple of stanzas because they are beautiful:
"over the maudlin lullabies of humming
bird fingers on milky keys"
beautiful imagery, which is also why I thought of yann tiersen's piece played a role in this poem, whether it inspired the title or the poem itself. I keep saying these words over and over again in awe, I'm envious I didn't write it first.
"indecisive whether to blame
our own drunkenness to empty bottles or
perhaps to fluttering hearts."
I think this very well might be the crux of the poem, and it's packaged in such a dense emotion-filled stanza.
"Imagine being something other than lonely."
What a haunting line to end this poem on, you've perfectly summed up your entire piece beautifully!
