Just a Little Longer

by Matt Carroll   Jul 15, 2017

Just a little longer, I wished to hold your body close to mine
That moment was beyond compare, I take it as a sign
Your arms wrapped tight around me, our two hearts beat as one
The sparks inside them brighter than the burning midday sun

Just a little longer, I wished our hands had stayed entwined
I was nervous to reach out for them, that I might have crossed the line
A look of reassurance in your eyes, that I need not to turn and run
As you took them without a second thought, I knew that this was far from done

Just a little longer, I wished to stay lost in your eyes
Their depth and understanding always takes me by surprise
For when I gaze into them, the world surely seems to fade away
Just you and me, and all these feelings that I know are here to stay

Just a little longer, I wished to hear your laughter, such a prize
A voice just like an angel's, soft and sweet, it tells no lies
And each time my ears are graced by it, I cannot help but pray
That in time, 'just a little longer' becomes each and every day

Yay...so very very sweet...someone is undoubtedly in love. The title in itself is enough. Great job, Matt!
