Recovering

by Alex Penuelas   Jul 18, 2017

Seeing you
In this state
Makes my
Heart break.

I know that the
Surgery went well
For you, but
It hurts me to see
How much you are
Struggling just to walk.

And I see how
Desperate you are to
Get back into the
Old routine, as if the
Knee surgery didn't happen.

But you and I both know
That that day will be
A long time coming.

Till then,
I will try my best
To be here for you
As much as I can.

Because you matter to me
More than the small friends
I have that ask me to
Go out.

You know that if you need me
I will cancel all plans
Just to be here with you.

I love you, Imelda.

It sounds like Imelda is lucky to have you at hand, Alex.
It's always awful watching loved ones suffer, but we have to try and put that aside and be strong for them; I'm sure you're doing a sterling job.
Take care and all the best to you and Imelda,
    Ben

So close to home, Alex. My own grandma just had a brain surgery a few hours ago. :-(
