If I Asked you...

by Matt Carroll   Jul 20, 2017

If I asked you to trust in me, heart, mind, body, and soul
Could you take such a chance, that I might make your life whole?
If I asked for your heart, willfully placed in my care
Could you have faith, would you know that it's always safe there?

If I asked for your hands, fingers laced within my own
Your lips pressed against mine as all caution is thrown
If I asked to pull you close, would you lean in just the same?
Your arms wrapped tight around me, our heart's desires pure to blame

If I asked for your devotion, to what soon could come to pass
Would your eyes grant me permission to step through the looking glass?
If I asked to make you mine, would you turn and choose another way?
Or would you smile back and show that it's with me you'd gladly stay

If I asked you for your love, could you say truly it was mine?
Are my feelings unrequited, am I a fool just by design?
If I asked for you completely, would you surrender to my charms?
Are you confident enough in this to fall right into my arms?
