It was Just the Wind [Part 3]

by Alex Penuelas   Jul 21, 2017

I then made my bed
And went to sleep,
Pretty smoothly
If you were to
Ask me.

But I figured that
It was due to the
Fact that I was so tired of
Moving into my
New apartment.

I woke up the next morning
At around
Nine in the morning

I pulled out the
Cereal that I
Placed in one of the
Kitchen shelves,
As well as the
Milk that was
In my fridge.

I noticed that the
Milk and the cereal
Had a little less of each
Than I was used to.

Now you may
Call me crazy,
But I keep
Very good check on the
Amount of food that
I have
(Maybe something that's a
Side effect of
Living in my parents'
Household for my
Whole life?)

Anyway,
I shrugged it off
As something that
I should have
Paid more attention to
Before I moved in.

I made a mental note
To go shopping at the
Local grocery store that morning
To get some more food,
As I also noticed that I
Was low on veggies
(Which isn't something
Out of the ordinary,
As I hardly ever
Eat veggies.)

I ran into my
Landlord Danny as I was
Heading out to explore the town.

He was a short man
With a stocky build,
But you can tell from a
First glance that he was
Just a giant teddy bear.

He greeted me and
Asked me how I was
Enjoying living in my
New apartment.

I told him that
So far everything is
Going by smoothly.

He smiled, and told me
To enjoy myself,
As the area that
I live in was
Very safe.

"Safer than the
City you came from"
He said with a
Giant grin.

I went out and did
Some shopping
Around town.

My main stop was
The mall that was
A couple blocks away
From my house.

The shopping center
I was at was like
Any other,
With a huge variety of
Stores to choose from.

I went to the
Supermarket that was there,
And got myself all of the
Veggies that I needed.

As I went to
Pay at the register,
The cashier that
Rung me up
Caught my gaze.

She was a small girl
With long, curly black hair,
Her hair reaching
Well below her
Shoulders.

And her eyes were
A soft green color.

She and I made
Some small talk,
And I told her that
I just recently moved in
To the small town.

She gave me this
Intrigued look on
Her face,
And asked me if
I was busy on Friday.

Surprised, I told her
"Not really. I don't have
Orientation for work
Until Monday, so I'm
Totally free tomorrow".

She discreetly wrote her
Phone number on the
Back of my receipt,
And I exchanged my number
On the back of the receipt
She made me "sign".

She told me to
Call her at 7pm,
As she would be getting
Off of work at that time.

She wanted to go
With me to see the
New movie that was showing
At the theatre in the mall.

I asked her what
Her name was,
And she said
"Raven".

"Quoth the Raven,
Nevermore"
I responded with a
Playfully snarky fine.

She giggled,
Her green eyes
Flashing with excitement.

She then wished me a
Good night,
Throwing a
Subtle wink my way
As I left her stand.

"This is so amazing!"
I thought to myself.

"I'm not even here for
Three days, and I
Already have a date!
I can get used to this!"

But once I got home,
I wished I didn't think
That last thought...
