These Nights...

by Matt Carroll   Jul 21, 2017

These nights are long and lonely
Without you here, my one and only
Taunting darkness growing thicker
Pulse is hastened, heart beats quicker

These nights are empty, so lackluster
No more strength that I can muster
I reach out and try to pull you closer
You're not there, it's far from over

These nights are harder than the day
When you're away, my mind does stray
Inside this void, I cannot breathe
The warmth of touch doth now recede

Theses nights I simply just can't handle
Without your flame that lights my candle
Please help me, hold me, love me, want me
I need your heart and soul, don't you see

These nights I long for your affection
I pray fate guides you my direction
Cut these chains, the ties that bind
So I may leave this misery behind

These nights I lay myself to sleep
Your essence felt, your presence deep
My last thoughts and wishes stay with you
That you'll save me from myself...that you'll make my dreams come true
