Upon Another Summer

by Maple Tree   Jul 24, 2017

Darkness fell upon another summer
drenched in misty midnight and I;
began to understand that nature
resides within my veins.

I've rooted within earthy beginnings,
watched leaves fall like a spring rain
as rainbows changed my irises to gaze
upon color as life, not vanity.

Birds sing a melody so sweet
that my ears consume nectar,
like a hummingbird in early dawn.

Bury me in ivy along a courtyard of
poppies, sleeping forever in beautiful
tomorrow's and endless sunsets.
