A summer blessing (English sonnet collaboration)

by Michael   Jul 24, 2017

The cooling breeze and joyous summer sun
Have woken up my heart and made it shine.
It's left the freezing rain's effects undone,
Now ev'ry word I speak is daubed in rhyme.
This icy sheet in which I was concealed,
Melts slowly so that I can breathe once more;
My freedom is at last again revealed
And love once frozen now begins to thaw.
The winter's snow and frost once cracked the glass,
But now the glass just magnifies the warmth.
I damn their spiteful deeds unto the past,
And face the south instead of facing north.
My journey takes a warmer kind of course
I swim beneath the sun at summers source
