Dream Me Home (early years poem)

by CJ Maleney   Jul 25, 2017

I lay in bed
I see your face
Each line I know
Each curve I trace

Your soft blue eyes
An ocean deep
In which I drown
In sleep I seek

I feel your heart
Burn through my skin
Though you're not here
It's in my dream

Your skin is smooth
So soft it seems
I wish that this
Was not a dream

Your hair like silk
It flows like waves
I feel your life
Flow through my veins

Your words they soothe
They calm the swell
But again I wake
To this country's hell

Through all these dreams
What drives me on
Is thoughts of you
When I come home

Thanks guys, think I was 24 when I wrote this, hidden away for 21 years.

What I'm struggling with is titles and not one of the my early rhymes has a tittle.

Awww...I thought of the movie Dear John while reading this...when you are in a very difficult place love can surely inspire you to continue on. Lovely write and as Ben said, early years poem but your great rhyming is already evident.
