Dying To Live:

by Scott Cole   Aug 1, 2017

I hide my tears from this cruel World
All this crisp pain inside my heart,
Though it's eating away at my Soul
And has me frail and half falling apart.

For my life is not what it first was
I'm not as strong as I seem to be,
So I just keep it bottled up inside me
Until the man up above sets it free.

I've had a long and wonderful time
But my high energy is losing speed,
I'm no longer the woman I was before
Now I can barely even meet my needs.

So I do suffer in complete silence
As my purpose slowly fades away,
And I'm so scared of what's to come
So will today be my final resting day.

I'm thankful for my friends and family
That has ever eased my sickly ride,
And when I'm finally taken from them
So will all of this pain that I hide inside.

JUDGES COMMENT: Scott always has flawless rhyming in his pieces which alone makes me goosebumpy because I love a bit of rhyming poetry especially as it's so well laid out like in this piece. The story in this is breathtakingly beautiful but so sad and resonates with me a little bit too much
