The Burden of Flowers (tanka)

by Larry Chamberlin   Aug 1, 2017

Bold young crepe myrtle
smooth bark with limbs that reach up
lift colorful blooms
but as the tree grows higher
limbs droop - beauty weighs them down.

Ohhh, Larry I really like this. It reminds me of my staff meeting this morning and talking about leadership. In that context, the more impact and influence you have, the more burden you tend to carry. As it was a church staff meeting, we talked about being rooted in Christ to help carry that burden. It ties so beautifully into this. <3 Love how diverse this piece can be!
