Hangman

by Nobody   Aug 4, 2017

You dressed me up
in silken chords
encrusted in diamonds
and all things that glitter

Whispering words
that dripped with honey
so sweet and sticky
they fastened to my heart

Mesmerizing me
with every action
until I was completely
blinded from the truth

Leading me to the gallows
I never even knew
a noose was what I wore
tied with a hangman's knot

I was a deadman
before you even pulled the lever
and left me hanging
choking on my own naivety

I should have guessed
Loving you came with a price.
