A Letter to You Upon my Departure

by lyle fortin   Jul 10, 2004

I thought I'd be stuck on you forever,
Our ties weren't easy to sever.
Broken bones and death couldn't make me cry,
But my wounded heart did and I don't know why.
For you there were a thousand tears
Like there hasn't been in so many years.
I told you I would never give in
To hopeless sorrow growing within;
But the hopeless sorrow gave way
To a beautiful, bright, new day
A day where birds sing and the sky is blue,
A day where I can live without you.
So I'm here to tell you I've left you behind,
And that all you hope for; you can find.
Now I don't have you in my life;
No more confusion, no more strife.
We will never be like we were before;
Because I don't care anymore.
