Faithful Dog

by Mark   Aug 6, 2017

Concealed yet united,
with an assumed trust.
Purposely entreated,
nurtered in playful moments,
maturing in years.
A bond between two species.

Greetings are as fresh as new,
day after day fresh as new.
Dialects are foreign,
yet meaning is transferred,
a medium naturally found.
A bond between two species.

Dutiful, always dutiful.
Protection for the protector;
always foremost in mind.
Loyal beyond reason;
even almost to a fault.
A bond between two species.

Cries and sickness,
are felt as one.
Pain and sorrow of parting;
are universal at heart.
Cherished and missed.
The bond between two species.

Life after living, untold, unsure.
Yet what is and what will be;
Remain unshakeable.
Unbreakable to the core,
undisolved forever more;
A bond between two species.

    Such a heartwarming poem and tribute to those beautiful souls that are our truest companions. I smiled at many of your verses and I ask myself again, what did we do to deserve dogs?

    If I may ask what breed of dog(s) do you have/had?
