severed ties

by Michael   Aug 7, 2017

I,

was, cradled in your...

...arms...

...which held me in pain;
from your internal suffering,
learned behaviour; which
still lingers..

..unlearned..

...for years..

..which you passed
onto me!

teachings that; supressed my...
...happiness;
...development;
...aspirations;

...my mind...

...full of erratic feelings; exploiting
my vulnerabilities; drowning in denial;
flooded with fear, and your love; elusive;
vacant of tenderness and care.

I could feel; perpetual beats
of emptiness; echoing the void
within my heart.

I..

..slowly; unravelled myself; from
the twisted umbilical cord; which
suffocated me; trapped me in
a genetic snare..

...and!...

if I knew then; what I do now,
I would of severed that twine;
which attached me; to you!

BUT!..

...the truth..

..Ironic!

As I never would; of possessed
the gifted wounds; which
scarred me for life; that
taught me...

..to teach my children,

Differently!
