Fingertips

by CJ Maleney   Aug 12, 2017

Calloused palms gained from burst blisters.
Things that show my attitude to work.
To prove from a task, I will not hide,
An obligation and duty not debunked.

An old man's hands to briefly view .
Before you must look away.
I hope you feel disgusted and shamed,
But I cannot feel the same.

These hands are not afflictions,
They just do what they're told.
To create noise and destruction,
Or a tiny life to hold.

They can mash these buttons to create,
And they can give feelings of bliss,
My calloused hands are rough and harsh
But I've gentle fingertips.
